Peas to combat the hypertension and kidney diseases.
The CKD is difficult to treat and can progress to the final phase of kidney disease that requires kidney dialysis or a kidney transplant, this situation promotes the search for new forms of treatment of CKD and the preservation of the kidney function.
The work with the University of Manitoba and the colleague Harold Aukema, Aluko, was to purify a mixture of small proteins through the hydrolyzed protein contained in the yellow peas.
The researchers fed with small daily doses of proteins to laboratory animals with the polycystic kidney disease, a severe form of kidney disease used as a model for research on the CKD.
At the end of the 8 weeks of the study, the protein with which is fed to animals with kidney disease, showed a decline of 20 percent in the blood pressure, compared with animals in the same conditions but with a normal diet.
“This is significant because the majority of patients CKD in reality die of cardiovascular complications arising from the high blood pressure, associated with renal dysfunction,” says Aluko.
In humans with polycystic kidney disease, the condition causes the production of urine that has fallen dramatically, and the kidneys are unable to eliminate correctly the dangerous toxins.

Less salt in potatoes chips.
A new study by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration, USA) concluded that the power of the Americans contains much salt. What is nothing healthy for our body and that is why the FDA developed a plan of regulation to that food producers cut the amount of salt of the meals.
The intention of the FDA is to create awareness on the part of the food producers and achieve some changes volunteers since the situation of the American diet in relation to the salt is worrying: Americans eat almost 1 ½ small salt a day.
More than double what our body requires, which creates the risk of high blood pressure, attacks and other problem to health. The salt many times is not available to the diner, comes to the body of the people in many of the processed foods that are served in restaurants.
