South-African plant and its effect in slimming.

This South-African plant that at present is located on the rise in its effects slimming, as one element for the fight against obesity, continues to be studied and within the information that we found, the scientists in South Africa in collaboration with a British company called Phytopharm, has isolated what is believed to be an active ingredient of the Hoodia.
This ingredient is a steroid glicósido, they called P57, on which obtained a patent in 1995, where license P57 to Phytopharm, company that has already spent more than $20 million in research hoodia.
Finally giant Pfizer pharmaceutical expressed its interest in the development of a drug hoodia, in 1998, Phytopharm sub-license rights to develop P57 to Pfizer by $21 million.
Much of the publicity about hoodia was immediately after the correspondent Leslie Stahl returns from Africa to publicize the hoodia, was hired locally to go with them to the desert and make the follow-up to the hoodia.
Stahl the consumed and described it as “cucumbery in texture, arguing that it was not evil”, adding that after he had lost the desire to eat or drink all day, also said that no experienced side effects immediate, such as indigestion or heart palpitations.
