HELEN LYNCH - AN ENIGMA -

          AND HER FAMILY

Alice Lynch, a kind and gentle lady whose unfinshed manuscript is frequently quoted in the book "From Devout Catholic To Communist Agitator - The Helen Lynch Story.  Alice idolized her sister and would not agree with the conclusions reached in the book.

 

Peter Lynch, father of J.T. and grandfather of Joe, Mary, Helen, Alice and Ethel.  He left his beloved County Cavan in Ireland in 1853 and began a new life in America.

Maggie and Jerry (J.T.) Lynch, circa 1895.  The parents of four daughters and a son.

Helen at age 14.  A serious-minded girl intent on learning all she could about life, but also a risk taker.  At the time and for several more years she was devoutly religious and devoted to her family.

Joe Lynch in 1915.  A serious young man who did his best to look after his four younger sisters.  It was a daunting task indeed.

J.T. Lynch - a super salesman, devout Catholic and jovial friend to business and civic leaders but an unbending patriarch at home.

Joe Lynch with his mother before going overseas in 1918.  A Marine, Joe suffered a severe wound in France's Argonne Forest.  For the remainder of his life his right arm was crippled.
