The grandchildren - Mark and Elizabeth (rear),  Paul and Jonathan (front) Macintyre.  They live in Alpine, California, a town about 35 miles east of San Diego.  Mark, 24, is on the staff at a Bible college, teaches youth groups and was recently married.  Paul, 22, is an EMT with plans to be a paramedic and firefighter.  Paul, 18, recently graduated from high school and Elizabeth, 16, is a high school student. I once spent a few hours with Elizabeth and her mother but have never met the young men.

The Silver Bullet - a dud. My 1937 Soap Box Derby car was covered with oilcloth and had mismatched wheels from wagons. It made it across the finish line - just. I also took part in the Akron local race in 1938 and 1939 with mixed results.

After the war ended in Europe I was transferred into the Military Police. The photo was taken on the bank of the Weser River in Northern Germany during the winter of 1945-46.

Called back to the Army during the Korean War, I was a mortar section sergeant when this photo was taken in 1952 at Camp (now Fort) Polk, Louisiana.
